Canoes, Kayaks and Stand-Up Paddle Boards

Paddle Sports at Sea Gull and Seafarer include canoeing, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding.

The canoes, kayaks and paddle boards are available for check-out and enjoyment once campers earn basic ranks and learn how to maneuver each one.

All campers start by learning the safety, water safety and the basics of paddling. Canoeing, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding take place on each Camp's Canoe Lake, not the Neuse River where campers sail and powerboat. 

As campers progress through the ranks for each watercraft they learn more advanced techniques, spend more time on the water and master different strokes. 

As with every activity that takes place in water, Paddle Sports are closely monitored by a lifeguard. 

Paddle Sports are considered Land activities as they take place on Canoe Lakes on each Camp's grounds.

Racing is introduced while campers work on Sunfish and Opti small sailboats toward their Small Boat Sailor Certification.

Powerboating
Campers begin learning powerboating on Scouts in small groups and are always supervised by a Camp staff member who is US Powerboating Instructor trained.
