Fishing ranks begin on the pier with campers dropping lines and throwing cast nets. The next level is learning to cast on our back lakes, then short river trips with Camp fishing staff members. The program culminates with day-long trips with a professional fishing guide.
Fishing ranks and powerboat ranks often go hand-in-hand. Campers may work on both.
For example, the campers learning center console boat handling will also be the ones on the short, river fishing trips. The campers learning advanced boat handling on our inboards and specialty fishing boats will also be the ones on day trips. Campers will plot the course, read charts and GPS and drive to the fishing destination under the supervision of Camp staff.
Related Activities
Powerboating
Campers begin learning powerboating on Scouts in small groups and are always supervised by a Camp staff member who is US Powerboating Instructor trained.
Water Skiing
Water skiing includes two-skiing, kneeboarding, wakeboarding and slalom skiing. All ski boats are captained by USCG licensed powerboating counselors.
Sailing - Racing
Racing is introduced while campers work on Sunfish and Opti small sailboats toward their Small Boat Sailor Certification.
